2025 DEI Champion Award Announcement!

On behalf of the DEI Committee, it is my pleasure to announce that Traci Taber and Zen Chamberlain have been selected as the recipients of the Hope Services 2025 DEI Champion Award.

Traci Taber, Store Manager for Hope Thrift in Watsonville, has cultivated a strong culture of inclusion at her location where associates, individuals served, and customers are recognized and appreciated every day. Through activities that encourage participation and community involvement, Traci creates meaningful connections and promotes equality and acceptance. She also finds creative ways to highlight belonging—such as producing inclusion-focused videos and recognizing others during holidays and special events. Her compassion and dedication to our mission are evident in the welcoming and supportive environment she fosters each day.

Zen Chamberlain, CSF at EMCC Bering, demonstrates a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through both organized efforts and everyday actions. He thoughtfully recognizes monthly ethnic and cultural celebrations, bringing creativity and enthusiasm that help foster cultural awareness, appreciation, and connection. Zen is known for being respectful, approachable, and intentional about ensuring that everyone feels welcomed and heard. Through collaboration, open dialogue, and genuine interest in diverse perspectives, he helps create meaningful opportunities for inclusion and community. It is also worth noting that Zen joined Hope’s DEI Committee in early 2026. His selection for the 2025 award reflects the impact of his efforts prior to joining the committee, demonstrating that his commitment to inclusion has long been part of his daily work and leadership.

While only a small number of awards can be presented, we want to acknowledge and sincerely thank all of the nominees for their efforts and impact. The nominations reflected inspiring examples of staff who promote inclusion through their daily actions, support cultural awareness, foster respectful dialogue, and help create environments where everyone feels valued and welcomed. Nominees included the following:

  • Desiree Biggs – Central Supported Employment Job Coach
  • Monica Dragonowski Davis – Mt. View EMCC CSF
  • Allison Yant – VP of I/DD Programs
  • Johnny Ortiz Gomez – Hollister EMCC CSF
  • Heather Cary – Seaside EMCC CSF
  • Shawn Bailey – R3 and eCommerce Director

Please join us in congratulating Traci and Zen, and all the nominees, on this well-deserved recognition!
