Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering at HOPE Services may be the most fulfilling and rewarding time you set aside this year. Even if its an hour a month, there is no minimum or limit to the valuable time you give our clients. There are no extended training courses or commitments you will need to agree to. We simply would enjoy having members of our community be a part of our organization and our clients' lives in whatever capacity they can.

Here are some ways you can make a difference:
JOB DEVELOPMENT and CAREER EDUCATION
Be a mentor for an entrepreneur.
Conduct a tour of your company to share employment opportunities.
Talk with your Human Resources office about potential jobs for HOPE clients.
Provide a one-time training about appropriate workplace behavior, "dress for success," how to interview for a job, and /or writing resumes.
Teach a regular class on computer skills.
Review resumes of individuals ready to apply for jobs.
Help identify contacts for landscape maintenance and outsourcing of assembly jobs.
Teach reading and writing classes.
SHARE YOUR ARTISTIC AND CREATIVE TALENTS
Teach art or craft classes to individuals participating in our Senior Activity Center or our Developmental Activity Center in San Jose.
Play the piano at the Senior Center or at our Developmental Activity Center in San Jose.
Volunteer your needlework expertise with seniors for their sewing club.
Help provide entertainment and refreshments for holiday parties for our Homestart families, seniors and/or social clubs.
Assist individuals at the Developmental Activity Center and at the Senior Center to plant and maintain their gardens.
BE A FRIEND
Become a friend or companion with one of our clients who has limited family available for doing things. Meet with your new friend a couple of times a month to attend movies, go bowling, spend time shopping, take walks, grocery shopping, or simply sharing mutual interests and activities! HOPE will match you with an individual who shares common hobbies and interests.
HEALTH AND FITNESS
Teach classes on nutrition.
Lead seniors in adaptive exercise programs.
Assist seniors in their therapeutic/recreational swim program at the Easter Seals Timpany Center on Tuesdays from 10:30AM to 12:30PM.
GENERAL "HANDY-WORK"
Help as needed with painting, woodworking projects, general maintenance.
Help with general office work - collating materials, sending out mailings.
Pick up and deliver hot lunches for the Senior Program.
Assist at the Kids' Café at the Children's Discovery Museum.
