Employment Services

HOPE Employment Services may be able to help you find a job if you have a disability.

HOPE offers several services for job seekers in the various areas we serve. Depending on the area you live in, HOPE may offer any or all of the following services, depending on your needs:

  • Job Preparation - Classes, resume building, interviewing skills, grooming, interest surveys.
  • Assessment - Time to try different jobs, to learn what interests you, to learn what support works best for you.
  • Temporary Employment - Temp work to gain skills, build your resume, try different types of jobs.
  • Job Placement - Help finding the right job for you, matching your skills, interests and needs, help with the interview, application and entire hiring process, help getting ready for the job, learning bus routes, getting clothing.
  • Follow-Up Support - Coaching and problem solving after you start work, follow-up with your employer, help with career growth and future changes in your job.
  • Continuation of Service - As long as you can benefit from HOPE services, we welcome you to participate in our programs. If you loose your job, you may receive support finding another job or may participate in other programs depending on funding.

All of HOPE's programs are designed to help people with developmental disabilities succeed in the community. Of course, someone has to pay for this service, and because of that, you might want to pay special attention to the following two items:

1. The starting point for receiving Job-related support from HOPE is usually the California State Department of Rehabilitation (DOR). If you have a disability and would like to be served, you may want to start with DOR. To find out more about the DOR, try this link: http://www.rehab.cahwnet.gov/

2. Some people who would like to receive job-related support from HOPE are also associated with a Regional Center, such as San Andreas Regional Center (SARC).

If you have a Service Coordinator (Worker, Social Worker) at a Regional Center, that person can refer you to DOR for job-related services. DOR then may authorize HOPE to support you.
