Community Access Network (CAN)
People employed at Work Activity Centers want to participate in their community too!
HOPE Services’ new Community Access Network (CAN) is the bridge between Work Activity Center employment and community membership. CAN’s focus is on community safety skills, the aspirations of participants and emphasizing participant contributions as members of their community.
Why CAN Works
CAN has a three-consumer-to-one-staff ratio that maximizes integration opportunities.
CAN provides support to master practical community and social skills. CAN connects participants with activities and environments that lead to natural relationships based on common interests.
Participants contribute to development of individualized plans designed to identify life skills and interests, as well as related community activities.
Participants determine life skills and community activities most valuable to them and are provided support and training for success. For some, success means the opportunity to volunteer for a non-profit cause that is important to them, while others want typical experiences in a market, concert or on public transit.
CAN is a cost effective hourly service. Participants receive a predetermined number of hours per month based on individual circumstances. CAN is available by referral.
